Flying High and Walking Deep Down

My second visit to the Grand Canyon was somehow completely different than the first one: In 2003, I was already speechless when just standing at the rim, and looking down into the canyon. This time, however, I needed a bit more to be in awe again.

However, do not get me wrong: All in all, this stay was just as amazing as the first one. The sunset on the first evening was already as beautiful as ever. With a helicopter flight over the canyon on the following morning, I finally made sure that this stay will again be unforgettable.

The real highlight, however, was a hike down into the canyon. Together with a fellow traveller, I descended more than 3000 ft. into the canyon. Then, we hiked over to Plateau Point, where you can see the Colorado River down at the bottom of the canyon. On this hike, I started to grasp how big the Grand Canyon actually is.
