Lange Nacht der Museen

Yesterday evening, the "Lange Nacht der Museen" (Long Night of Museums) took place for the eleventh time in Austria. Along with about 200.000 other participants, I visited several museums throughout Vienna.

When only spending such a short time in each museum, you can only scratch at the surface, of course. Still, you do get a quick overview, and at least know afterwards which museums are worth a second, more thorough visit.

I took the opportunity to visit the Belvedere and the Secession for the first time in my life. Apart from that, I have also been to several smaller museums such as

Museum of Sigmund Freud

  • the Museum of Sigmund Freud (where we enjoyed a very interesting guided tour),
  • the Museum of Globes, the Esperanto Museum and the Papyrus Museum of the Östrreichischen Nationalbibliothek, as well as
  • the (slightly more morbid) Funeral Museum, where you even could try out a coffin! However, I gave this experience a pass.

All in all, such a Long Night of Museums is a good opportunity to get to know at least some of the numerous museums of my home town.
