Actually, I wanted to explore the Catlins by car starting today. Unfortunately, my rental car booking was canceled. So, I am now sitting around in my hostel in Dunedin.

Fortunately, I was able to get hold of another rental car from tomorrow onwards, but I am still a bit annoyed that I lost a whole day.

So, the only highlight of today was the drive from Wanaka to Dunedin through Central Otago, the driest area of the country. Therefore, the hills are rather a dull brown, and only turn the typical New Zealand green again when you get closer to the coast.
