Based on the fact that I actually wanted to see flamingos and strange rock formations, the above result (especially the first two thirds) might seem a bit strange, if not even disappointing. However, I was again happy with today's adventures.<\/p>\n

I started the day with a visit to the fortress of Antequera<\/span> which I noticed when driving by on may way to my destination. I decided to stop, and visit the remains of this islamic fortress.<\/p>\n

After that, I continued on to Laguna de Fuente de Piedra<\/span>, where (according to my guide book) up to 20,000 pairs of flamingos<\/q> are breeding every year. However, I saw none of them.<\/p>\n

So, the nature reserve of El Torcal<\/a> with its peculiar rock formations became the highlight of the day. There, the limestone is deeply fissured, and is forming the most interesting rock columns.<\/p>\n
