I am travelling on the <a class=\"www\" href=\"http:\/\/www.galapagoseden.com\/\"> Eden <\/a>, a 16-passenger ship. We spent our first full day on the northeasternmost island of the archipelago, which is considered to be a bird&#8217;s paradise: <span xml:lang=\"es\" lang=\"es\">Genovesa<\/span>.<!--more--><\/p>\n  <div class=\"wp-bkab-quer_li wp-caption alignleft single-image\">\n  <p class=\"image\">\n   <a href=\"img_3590\/\" class=\"lightbox-link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img360x240\" src=\"..\/..\/..\/..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/IMG_3590-360x240.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" alt=\"[Foto]\" title=\"Bachas Beach\" \/><\/a>\n  <\/p>\n  <p class=\"wp-caption-text\">\n   Bachas Beach\n  <\/p>\n  <\/div>\n\n<p>Yesterday afternoon, we already made a short stop in <span xml:lang=\"es\" lang=\"es\">Bachas<\/span> Beach (which is still on the main island Santa Cruz). This beach had the &quot;usual suspects&quot; (<abbr title=\"that is\">i.e.<\/abbr>&nbsp;Sally Lightfoot crabs, and marine iguanas) to offer&nbsp;&#8211; as well as a single flamingo. First, we explored the surroundings of the nearby beach, around which some of the tens of thousands&nbsp;(!) of birds of the island nest. We were able to observe the three most well-known species up close: the red-footed booby, the Nazca booby, and the frigatebird.<\/p>\n<p>The first looks a bit clumsy, but is a very graceful flier &nbsp;&#8211; and its red-footed variety is unique to <span xml:lang=\"es\" lang=\"es\">Genovesa<\/span>. Us tourists (female as well as male) were impressed, too.<\/p>\n  <div class=\"wp-bkab-quer_li wp-caption alignleft single-image\">\n  <p class=\"image\">\n   <a href=\"img_3654\/\" class=\"lightbox-link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img360x240\" src=\"..\/..\/..\/..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/IMG_3654-360x240.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" alt=\"[Foto]\" title=\"Swallow-tailed gull\" \/><\/a>\n  <\/p>\n  <p class=\"wp-caption-text\">\n   Swallow-tailed gull\n  <\/p>\n  <\/div>\n\n<p>Finally, there is the swallow-tailed gull, which boasts at least pink feet and a red ring around the eyes. Even sea lions sometimes frolick in the shallow waters. At least, we spotted a few shoals of fish.
