As I complained about the tourists in Granada<\/a>, I should complain even more about the tourists in Monteverde<\/a> where you can hardly find any locals at all. However, for some reason they do not bother me too much here. The cold, though, is much more of a nuisance.<\/p>\n

The reserve is situated at an elevation of about 4500 ft<\/abbr> above sea level, which explains the temperature. Moreover, the clouds (which actually create the local cloud<\/em> forest) also participate in making the climate a bit cooler. So, I was even feeling a bit cold in the morning despite wearing three layers of clothing. Nonetheless, I spent a day exploring the reserve.<\/p>\n

The day before, I was zip-lining close to the reserve, which was great fun.<\/p>\n

By the way, already the trip to Santa Elena<\/span> (the local tourist village) was very scenic – fortunately, because it took me eleven<\/em> hours to get here from Nicaragua<\/span>!<\/p>\n
