As my friend whom I visited this time also lives in Brooklyn, I took the opportunity to catch up on tourist sights in this borough.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"clear:left; margin-top:1em;\">\n   Prospect Park\n  <\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"www\" href=\"http:\/\/www.prospectpark.org\/\">Prospect Park<\/a> is the equivalent of <a  href=\"..\/..\/..\/..\/regions\/usa\/ny\/cntrpark\/\">Central Park<\/a> in Brooklyn. There, I learned a bit about subway construction (<abbr title=\"for example\">e.g.<\/abbr> the most common building technique, called &quot;Cut&nbsp;&amp; Cover&quot;, where the streets where excavated, the subway arches constructed, and finally the ditch was again filled with dirt), and could see some old subway cars (which do not look that different from the cars used nowadays, by the way).<\/p>\n<h2>\n   Coney Island\n  <\/h2>\n  <div class=\"breit_li wp-caption alignleft single-image\">\n  <p class=\"image\">\n   <a href=\"..\/..\/..\/..\/regions\/usa\/ny\/sights\/brooklyn\/index_21.htm\" class=\"lightbox-link\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img288x192\" src=\"..\/..\/..\/..\/regions\/usa\/ny\/sights\/brooklyn\/thumb\/20.jpg\" width=\"288\" height=\"192\" alt=\"[Picture]\" title=\"&quot;The Cyclone&quot;\" \/><\/a>\n  <\/p>\n  <p class=\"wp-caption-text\">\n   <span xml:lang=\"en\" lang=\"en\">&quot;The Cyclone&quot;<\/span>\n  <\/p>\n  <\/div>\n\n<p>Finally, I went to <a class=\"www\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coneyisland.com\/\">Coney Island<\/a>, directly at the beach in the South of Brooklyn. There, an old (somewhat derelict) amusement park is still in operation.
