I intended this trip to be my summer holiday, and I expected to enjoy (at least) spring-like temperatures in Yosemite<\/a>. However, here it is still winter: Sub-zero temperatures at night, and a (snow) storm passing through.<\/p>\n

The first day was a really tough start: It rained most of the time, and we even had some hail. At the same time, I was always thinking of the camping night in a tent that we had ahead of us. Fortunately, I still had a bit of a jet-lag (and enough layers of clothes), and was able to sleep through the (cold) night.<\/p>\n

On the second day, we were at least able to enjoy one dry morning. During that time, we hiked up the John Muir Trail to Vernal Fall, and then the Mist Trail to Nevada Fall. Especially the former trail offers not only great views of the falls, but also of Yosemite Valley down bellow. Up at the top, we had a stunning view of Nevada Falls, because we were able to stand right at the edge, peering down on the falls.<\/p>\n

Just after this hike, it started to rain, and did not stop for the rest of the day – except for the night, when we had some snow fall. However, after another really cold night, we were able to enjoy the national park freshly covered in snow – absolutely stunning!<\/p>\n
