Zion NP<\/abbr><\/a> got its name from the first (mormon) settler because it was so idyllic and untouched. In fact, it basically still is (considering the fact that it is a tourist destination), and is definitely one of my favourites on this trip.<\/p>\n

The park offers two great walks, one of which was closed due to the unusually high water level of the Virgin River: The Narrows<\/a> are no hiking trail in the classical sense, but you rather walk, wade or even swim in the river bed until you cannot go any further.<\/p>\n

But this trail closure also hat its advantage: I did not have to decide which of the two walks are more important to me, and I just set off for Angels Landing<\/a>. This trail is especially steep, and, more importantly, directly next to the "path" (which is just made up by some rocks on a cliff top) there is an (almost vertical) drop of about 2000 feet. However, this sounds a lot worse than it actually is – at least that was the impression of all of us.<\/p>\n

In any case, the view from the top more than made up for all efforts. It was a truly breathtaking view of the entire Zion Canyon.<\/p>\n

Compared to this hike, all other trails were rather "ordinary", but nonetheless still quite enjoyable.<\/p>\n
