All hiked out in Grazalema

[Picture]

Today, for the first time the weather was like I expected: Rather cool in the morning, so that you still need a jumper, but quickly getting warmer so that you can set out for a hike at 10.00 a.m. in a short-sleeved shirt. And that is exactly what I did today. Continue reading

Delhard Kabila and the Green Gorge

[Picture]

Today, I did a hike through the Garganta Verde, a deep and narrow, but green gorge (hence its name). For this hike, you need a permit of the National Park Service, which I reserved by phone. However, my Spanish does not seem to be as good as I would like it to be, because the permit was issued for a certain Delhard Kabila. Continue reading

Rounding up Ronda

[Picture]

Today, as I was travelling on from El Chorro to Grazalema, I took the opportunity to make a short stop in Ronda. The visit, however, was somehow compromised by the inclement weather. Continue reading

From the 9th to the 20th Century

[Picture]

Today was a really relaxing day: In the morning, I visited the remains of a mozarabic fortress, and explored the area of the dams of El Chorro Gorge, whereas in the afternoon, I was lazing around on the terrace of my accommodation. Continue reading

Fortresses vs. Flamingos vs. Fissures: 1:0:≫10000

Unwinding in El Chorro

[Picture]

El Chorro is a Mecca for climbers. However, I opted against going straight up the rocks, but rather explored the area by hiking on several hiking paths. In total, I was away for nearly six hours – maybe not that relaxing in the eyes of some people. Continue reading

Andalusia, or: Welcome to the Mountains!

[Picture]

My holiday in Spain started very stereotypically with a flight to Málaga, admidst lots of elderly tourists and a school class on their way to a language holiday. After my arrival, however, I left the "typical" Andalusia behind, and made my way into the mountains. Continue reading

Stavanger, the City of Ships

[Picture]

As we spent the last four days in Stavanger (and went on our hiking trips to Preikestolen and Kjeragbolten from there), we also spent some time to explore the town itself. Continue reading

Kjeragbolten, or: A Tight Spot

[Picture]

Our second hike in Lysefjord was also quite popular, but not as popular as the one to Preikestolen. Our goal, however, was also quite spectacular: Kjerabgolten, a boulder which is wedged into a mountain crevasse almost 1000 meters above Lysefjord. Continue reading

Tourist Crowds at Preikestolen

[Picture]

Despite the warnings of my fellow traveller, I wanted to visit Preikestolen. Unfortunately, however, she was right: Preikestolen is truly overrun by tourists. Continue reading
