Having just arrived in New York yesterday, we boarded an airplane again today – quite an exhausting way to start your holiday! After a flight of almost seven-and-a-half hours, we could enjoy the first glimpse of California: the lights of Los Angeles by night.

In Los Angeles, we explored Downtown and Hollywood. Moreover, we visited the California ScienCenter, the Universal Studios Hollywood, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.

The first two days were dedicated to the Pacific Coast Highway ...

... before exploring the city of San Francisco.

A green idyll at Lake Tahoe – quite typical of the Sierra Nevada!

The hightlight of our three Sierra Nevada crossings within four days was, however, Yosemite National Park.

Whether it is Death Valley ...

... or the Colorado Desert – deserts are fascinating despite their scantiness.

We also spent some days in Arizona, where we visited the Grand Canyon – without doubt the ultimate hightlight of the whole stay in the West of the US!
