    • Fall 2026: Islands in the Mediterranean

I would like to end the travel year 2026 in the (hopefully) sunny south: I will travel through Sicily and Malta for about three weeks, followed by a few days of workation.

    • Early summer 2026: Außerfern and Vorarlberg

Before the start of the main travel season, I would like to explore the (West-)Austrian-German border region a little bit: from Reutte (with a side trip to Neuschwanstein) via Kleinwalsertal to the Arlberg region.

    • May 14 to May 17: Visiting the neighbours

      [Picture]

This year, I had no business trip planned. Still, I wanted to spend an extended weekend abroad – this time in South Bohemia, more precisely in České Budějovice and Český Krumlov.

    • March 28 to April 11: In the Land of the Thunder Dragon

      [Picture]

Around Easter 2026, I treated myself to a very special trip (that was originally already planned for 2020): a visit to the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan (on a tour organized by Weltweitwandern).

  • 2025

    • September 12 to October 5: French Riviera and Provence

      [Picture]

In late summer, I enjoyed three weeks at the French Riviera and in Provence, with a side trip to Monaco. On the way there and back, I also travelled through Italy and Switzerland, respectively.

    • May 28 to June 20: Up north to the Lofoten Islands

      [Picture]

The Lofoten Islands were on my travel bucket list for quite a while. In early summer 2025, I finally made it happen: I spent a week taking the train up north (with stops in Germany, Denmark, and Sweden). Then, I spend two weeks in the Lofoten Islands and Vesterålen.

    • April 30 to May 11: Benelux and London

      [Picture]

Just before going on a business trip to London, I spent an extended weekend in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Bruges (Belgium) – and one and a half hours in Frankfurt am Main on the way back.

    • September 13 to October 6: Exploring the Pyrenees

      [Picture]

After visiting the (Swiss) Alps a few months earlier, another European mountain range was on my agenda: the Pyrenees. I explored both the French and the Spanish side, and I also spent some time in Andorra.

    • June 18 to June 30: In the Swiss Alps

      [Picture]

After quite a long time, I finally visited Switzerland again. This time, I also explored the Swiss Alps in depth (or should I say: heights?).

  • 2023/24

    • October 1, 2023 to February 20, 2024: Around the world (again)!

      [Picture]

Unbelievable, but true: From October 2023 to February 2024, I went on a round-the-world trip for the second (!) time. This time, I was on the road a bit shorter. Still, there was enough time to enjoy both revisits (like New Zealand) as well as exploring new destinations (like French Polynesia or parts of Southeast Asia) along my route.

    • 2020 to mid 2023: Travelling in COVID times

      [Picture]

The Corona pandemic really put the brakes on my travel plans: For two years I traveled (almost) exclusively within Austria. Only in early summer 2022, I slowly started to travel again (within Europe): first in Austria's neighboring countries, then also to the Canary Islands and the British Isles.

    • Autumn 2016 to late 2019: All across the world

      [Picture]

Between autumn 2016 and autumn 2019, I was criss-crossing the globe on my travels: China, the United States, Ecuador, South Africa, Lesotho, and Vietnam were all on my itinerary. But also in Europe, I have been on several (short) trips.

    • January 28 to March 28, 2016: The Ruta Maya

      [Picture]

In Winter 2016, I got to know the culture of the Mayas (in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador). I also had some relaxing days on the beach, and went hiking in the Guatemaltecan highlands.

    • Autumn 2013 to late 2015: Walking the World

      [Picture]

In autumn 2013, I spent a relaxing holiday in Croatia. In the years 2014 and 2015, however, the focus was more on hiking: in Scandinavia, in the Caucasus, and in the Himalaya.

    • January 28 to March 28, 2013: The Other Side of the World

      [Picture]

Thanks to two months of unpaid vacation, I escaped the European winter, and spent eight weeks in New Zealand.

    • 2010 to 2012: Exploring Europe

      [Picture]

After an initial trip through the United States in Spring 2010, I explored Europe on several trips between autumn 2010 and summer 2012: I have been to the Balkans and the Baltics, to Spain, and to Norway.

      [Picture]

Between the end of September 2008 and mid-May 2009, I was away on my (so far) longest trip: I was travelling all around the globe!

    • 2003 to 2007/08: Travelling Overseas

      [Picture]

From Sommer 2003 to Winter 2007/08, I was travelling overseas a lot: a term abroad in the United States, a month each in Australia and South America, and trips to both Western and Eastern Canada. Additionally, I also spent almost 10 weeks on vacation and seminars in Europe in these years.
