My first stop in Costa Rica was in the mountains of Monteverde which is renowned for its bird life.

I spent a bit more time in San José than I originally planed to. So, I had also enough time for exploring the surroundings of the city.

March 18 – April 1, 2009 – Volcán Arenal

For two weeks, I have worked as a volunteer at Volcán Arenal National Park.

April 2 – 8, 2009 – Quelonios del Caribe

As my second volunteer project, I chose the turtle project "Quelonios del Caribe".

April 8 – 16, 2009 – Manuel Antonio

I also enjoyed my third volunteer project at Manuel Antonio National Park.

April 17 – 19, 2009 – Corcovado

I do not know if I have ever sweated that much as during my stay on the Osa peninsula, espially during my two-day hiking trek in the Parque Nacional Corcovado. Still, it was worth every effort!

Finally (after a short excursion into Panama), I stopped in Turrialba where I also visited some nearby Indian ruins.
