Monteverde

As I complained about the tourists in Granada, I should complain even more about the tourists in Monteverde where you can hardly find any locals at all. However, for some reason they do not bother me too much here. The cold, though, is much more of a nuisance.

The reserve is situated at an elevation of about 4500 ft above sea level, which explains the temperature. Moreover, the clouds (which actually create the local cloud forest) also participate in making the climate a bit cooler. So, I was even feeling a bit cold in the morning despite wearing three layers of clothing. Nonetheless, I spent a day exploring the reserve.

The day before, I was zip-lining close to the reserve, which was great fun.

By the way, already the trip to Santa Elena (the local tourist village) was very scenic – fortunately, because it took me eleven hours to get here from Nicaragua!

  1. Hallo,
