Maine, the "Pine Tree State", is situated on the coast, in the far Northeast of the United States. Large portions of the land are still uninhabited, and are therefore very inviting for a holiday in the wilderness, for example in Baxter State Park. But also less remote areas can be an attractive destination for outdoor lovers, for example the Acadia National Park.
I visited both parks during my "Atlantic Maritimes" vacation in 2006. If you would like to know more about the parks, I would like to invite you to have a look at my travel diary (in German), or at my photo album.
