Kjeragbolten, or: A Tight Spot

[Picture]

Our second hike in Lysefjord was also quite popular, but not as popular as the one to Preikestolen. Our goal, however, was also quite spectacular: Kjerabgolten, a boulder which is wedged into a mountain crevasse almost 1000 meters above Lysefjord.

In the beginning, we hiked through dense fog, and were already worried that we might not see anything at all. After some two hundred meters altitude gain, however, we reached the upper limit of the fog, and were able to see the surrounding summits peaking through the cloud cover.

Hike to Kjeragbolten

So, we continued in bright sunshine to Kjeragbolten. Unfortunately, we were not able to see Lysefjord from up there. Still, it was an amazing (and, if looking down, somewhat frightening) experience to stand on this boulder.
