The Hohe Wand is an elevated plateau South of Vienna. On one side, it has quite steep cliffs which are, quite probably, responsible for its name (in German, "Hohe Wand" means "high wall"). It is very popular with rock climbers, and paragliders.
But also hikers like me can easily explore the Hohe Wand. Yesterday, a friend and me ascended the "Hanslsteig, a rather easy via ferrata with only one longer, steep ladder. At the top, we followed the edge of the plateau, trying to avoid the tourist masses that simply drove to the top by car.
All in all, we spent about six hours there, hiking just over 13 kilometres in total, and enjoying the views from the top on some (longer) breaks in between.
