As we spent the last four days in Stavanger (and went on our hiking trips to Preikestolen and Kjeragbolten from there), we also spent some time to explore the town itself.

Stavanger has a quite charming old town. Moreover, the Tall Ship Race 2011 currently taking place led to dozens of sailing ships being anchored in the harbour, which was an additional attraction.

Furthermore, we visited Solastranden, a long sandy beach close to Stavanger. Due to the heavy winds, however, it is more popular with kite surfers than sun bathers.
