After quite a long time, I finally visited Switzerland again in early summer 2024. This time, I also explored the Swiss Alps in depth (or should I say: heights?).

Mountainous Schynige Platte
On my last day in the Jungfrau region, I explored the Schynige Platte. This area is the start of the alpine hiking trail which I originally wanted to do (but which was still closed due to snow). Still, by visiting Schynige Platte, I was at least able to explore some part of it. Continue reading Mountainous Schynige Platte
Lots of waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen
After having seen the Lauterbrunnen Valley from above two days ago, I made a trip there today. Also this time, a view from above was a must. However, I also explored the valley floor. Continue reading Lots of waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen
The Crimes Joys of Grindelwald
After the rain in the days before, I was a little worried that the current weather would spoil my planned hikes in Grindelwald. But my worries were unfounded: The past weather had already taken care of that. It was cold for so long that there was still far too much snow for my planned hikes at higher altitudes. So I asked the tourist information office for other hikes that were less affected by snow. In the end, this worked out pretty well. Continue reading The Crimes Joys of Grindelwald
Under the clouds in Interlaken
Today, I had to change my accommodation. I took advantage of this opportunity to stop off in Interlaken – even though the weather was still not that great. Continue reading Under the clouds in Interlaken
Just quickly to Rigi
Today, the weather was supposed to be still alright (at least more or less), so I set off on my first trip to the Swiss Alps: I went up to Rigi, the “Queen of the Mountains”. Continue reading Just quickly to Rigi
Hiking at our Southern neighbors
After two years of Corona, it was finally time for a trip abroad again in early Summer 2022 – though still quite close to home: I spent three weeks exploring South Tyrol and Slovenia.
A Log(ar)ical vacation end
On my last “true” vacation day, I just had to go out into nature again. I chose the Logar Valley, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in the country. Given my small sample size, I cannot confirm that with certainty – but I can say that it is very picturesque indeed. Continue reading A Log(ar)ical vacation end
Beautiful Bled
My tour of lakes continues: Today, I visited Lake Bled. Additonally, I also hiked through Vintgar Gorge (which is close by). Continue reading Beautiful Bled
Off to Bohinj!
I spent the last two days in an accommodation near Lake Bohinj. Since this region was so beautiful, I limited myself to exploring the immediate surroundings. Why seek far afield when waterfall, lake and gorge are all within walking distance? Continue reading Off to Bohinj!
