In the last two days, I went on my first alpine hike on this trip: a two-day hike in Nelson Lakes National Park, going from St. Arnaud (a village at the border of the national park) to Lake Angelus (in the mountains) and back. It turned out to be quite a tough hike, but it was definitely worthwhile – even though the weather was not as good as I hoped for. Continue reading Up to the Angels

Abel Tasman by Land
The last two days, I was hiking in Abel Tasman National Park. Despite it being my first real hike, I opted for a two-day outing (which was recommended to me by an Austrian couple). As it turned out, it was a good decision. Continue reading Abel Tasman by Land
Bay and Bog
In the meantime, I have arrived in Tallinn, the last stop of my trip through the Baltics. From there, I went on two day trips to the quite diverse, and very beautiful Lahemaa-Nationalpark. Continue reading Bay and Bog
Rainy, Cloudy, Go!
This weekend, I had to plan around the rainy periods. In the end, however, I had enough time for exploring Gauja National Park with its both attractions: river and castles. Continue reading Rainy, Cloudy, Go!
A Day in the Lithuanian Countryside

The Last Primeval Forest in Europe
The last two days I spent in Bialowieża which is home to the (allegedly) last primeval forest in all of Europe. I do not know whether this is true or not, but it is definitely a very beautiful region. Continue reading The Last Primeval Forest in Europe
Hiking in Andalusia
My first stay in Spain was not a beach holiday, but rather a hiking trip.
All hiked out in Grazalema
Today, for the first time the weather was like I expected: Rather cool in the morning, so that you still need a jumper, but quickly getting warmer so that you can set out for a hike at 10.00 a.m. in a short-sleeved shirt. And that is exactly what I did today. Continue reading All hiked out in Grazalema
Delhard Kabila and the Green Gorge
Today, I did a hike through the Garganta Verde, a deep and narrow, but green gorge (hence its name). For this hike, you need a permit of the National Park Service, which I reserved by phone. However, my Spanish does not seem to be as good as I would like it to be, because the permit was issued for a certain Delhard Kabila
. Continue reading Delhard Kabila and the Green Gorge
From the 9th to the 20th Century
Today was a really relaxing day: In the morning, I visited the remains of a mozarabic fortress, and explored the area of the dams of El Chorro Gorge, whereas in the afternoon, I was lazing around on the terrace of my accommodation. Continue reading From the 9th to the 20th Century
