On my last “true” vacation day, I went out into nature once again: I made a trip to the Dune du Pilat, the highest wandering dune in Europe. Continue reading Dune (of Pilat)

Transiting through Val d’Aran
In order to get from Aigüestortes to Estany de Sant Maurici, you either have to hike right through the national park or drive around it by car. Since my rental car unfortunately did not fit in my backpack, I decided to do the latter. From the two possible routes, I chose the one via the Val d’Aran. Continue reading Transiting through Val d’Aran
Picturesque Bern
I spent the last 24 hours of my stay in Switzerland in the Swiss capital (or more correctly: federal) city of Bern: a nice little town, but I would not have needed much more time to explore it. Continue reading Picturesque Bern
Low clouds in Lucerne
Unfortunately, I did not manage to go on any more mountain hikes around Lucerne – the weather was simply too changeable. Fortunately, Lucerne is at least a nice little town. Therefore, I was at least still able to fill these two days with some activities. Continue reading Low clouds in Lucerne
Hundertwasser in Vienna
About five months ago, I visited the Hundertwasser Art Center in Whangarei. Now I am back in Vienna, and the Museum Hundertwasser in the Kunst Haus Wien opened its doors again two weeks ago (after several months of renovation). So, what could be more fitting than paying a quick visit to this museum? Continue reading Hundertwasser in Vienna
OneTwo Nights in Bangkok
My last stop on my (second) trip around the world was Bangkok. Some people seem to love this city. However, three days were not enough for me to reach this state. Actually, three days in Bangkok were enough for me. Continue reading OneTwo Nights in Bangkok
Colorful temples
The first Thai city I visited, Chiang Rai, had again lots of temples to show. However, these were not only “conventional” temples, but also temples in rather unusual colors: There is a Blue Temple as well as a White Temple, and also a Black House Museum which consists of black buildings in the shape of temples. Continue reading Colorful temples
The traditions of Laos
After my trip to Nong Khiaw, I returned to Luang Prabang, because the next leg of my journey starts from there. This time, I used my stay in the city to familiarize myself a bit with the local customs. Continue reading The traditions of Laos
Full, fuller, Singapore?
The transition from the vastness (and emptiness) of the Southern Alps in New Zealand metropolis of Singapore is a tough one. Still, I braved the masses, and explored the city for two days. Continue reading Full, fuller, Singapore?
City of two worlds
I spent my last days in New Zealand in Christchurch. I was happy to see some life again in the city center&nsbp;– very much in contrast to the last time I was there, shortly after the severe earthquakes. But there are still (sometimes quite deep) wounds visible in the city. Continue reading City of two worlds
