As I already did two years ago, I once again attended the Devoxx UK, a software developer conference. Afterwards, I had a (short) day for some tourist activities. This time, these took me directly to the British center of power. Continue reading Devoxx UK 2025

Chilly in Bruges
The last stop of my short excursion through Benelux was the Belgian city of Bruges. Unfortunately, a cold snap made exploring the city a bit more chilly than expected. However, I still ventured outside, but also visited a few museums (for warming up in between). Continue reading Chilly in Bruges

Stopover in Bordeaux
Who says you can only make a stopover when flying? As my train journey back home took me through Bordeaux, I stopped there for three nights (but actually only two days). I used one of these days to explore the city. Continue reading Stopover in Bordeaux
Monte Perdido Lluvioso
My first stop in Spain was intended to be (mainly) dedicated to the Monte Perdido National Park. Unfortunately, this “forgotten mountain” (Monte Perdido) was also a “rainy mountain” (monte lluvioso) for me. In addition, access to the park was scheduled to be closed for around ten days starting the next day, Monday, due to road construction works. This of course further complicated things. After heavy rains basically all day yesterday, I had to bite the bullet today, and try my luck despite the mediocre weather forecast. After all, this was the last day that the area was accessible. Continue reading Monte Perdido Lluvioso

Picturesque Bern
I spent the last 24 hours of my stay in Switzerland in the Swiss capital (or more correctly: federal) city of Bern: a nice little town, but I would not have needed much more time to explore it. Continue reading Picturesque Bern
Lots of waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen
After having seen the Lauterbrunnen Valley from above two days ago, I made a trip there today. Also this time, a view from above was a must. However, I also explored the valley floor. Continue reading Lots of waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen
The Crimes Joys of Grindelwald
After the rain in the days before, I was a little worried that the current weather would spoil my planned hikes in Grindelwald. But my worries were unfounded: The past weather had already taken care of that. It was cold for so long that there was still far too much snow for my planned hikes at higher altitudes. So I asked the tourist information office for other hikes that were less affected by snow. In the end, this worked out pretty well. Continue reading The Crimes Joys of Grindelwald
