Bergen, the City of Rain?

Bergen ist known to be the rain captial of Norway (if not the whole world). During my stay this year, however, I was exceptionally lucky with the weather.

All in all, I have spent almost a week in Bergen, as we could stay here with a friend of my travel companion. So, we explored the city and its surroundings a bit.

For example, I visited the popular viewpoint on Fløyen hill. Furthermore, we went on a day hike to (another) viewpoint at Ulriken and over the Vidden plateau. Apart from a short (but quite heavy) rainfall during this hike, we mostly enjoyed blue skies and sunshine, which is very atypical of Bergen.

Fantoft Stave Church

Finally, we also had a rental car with which we explored the surroundings a bit: After a short visit to the stave church of Fantoft south of Bergen, we continued to the islands off the Bergen coast. On one of them, Sotra, we climbed the highest mountain of the island, Liatårnet (which is 341 meters high). Finally, we discovered the quaint village of Hagenes closeby.
