I spent the last 24 hours of my stay in Switzerland in the Swiss capital (or more correctly: federal) city of Bern: a nice little town, but I would not have needed much more time to explore it. Continue reading Picturesque Bern

Thun or not?
I thought long and hard about how I should spend the time between changing accommodation today: stay longer, arrive earlier, or do something along the way? I finally decided to stop off in Thun (since I was driving through there anyway) and had a look at Castle Thun. Continue reading Thun or not?
Mountainous Schynige Platte
On my last day in the Jungfrau region, I explored the Schynige Platte. This area is the start of the alpine hiking trail which I originally wanted to do (but which was still closed due to snow). Still, by visiting Schynige Platte, I was at least able to explore some part of it. Continue reading Mountainous Schynige Platte
Lots of waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen
After having seen the Lauterbrunnen Valley from above two days ago, I made a trip there today. Also this time, a view from above was a must. However, I also explored the valley floor. Continue reading Lots of waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen
The Crimes Joys of Grindelwald
After the rain in the days before, I was a little worried that the current weather would spoil my planned hikes in Grindelwald. But my worries were unfounded: The past weather had already taken care of that. It was cold for so long that there was still far too much snow for my planned hikes at higher altitudes. So I asked the tourist information office for other hikes that were less affected by snow. In the end, this worked out pretty well. Continue reading The Crimes Joys of Grindelwald
Under the clouds in Interlaken
Today, I had to change my accommodation. I took advantage of this opportunity to stop off in Interlaken – even though the weather was still not that great. Continue reading Under the clouds in Interlaken
Low clouds in Lucerne
Unfortunately, I did not manage to go on any more mountain hikes around Lucerne – the weather was simply too changeable. Fortunately, Lucerne is at least a nice little town. Therefore, I was at least still able to fill these two days with some activities. Continue reading Low clouds in Lucerne
Just quickly to Rigi
Today, the weather was supposed to be still alright (at least more or less), so I set off on my first trip to the Swiss Alps: I went up to Rigi, the “Queen of the Mountains”. Continue reading Just quickly to Rigi
Grüezi in Züri
Last night, I left for a short vacation in Switzerland (or maybe I should say: short for me?). The night train took me to Zürich. So I took the opportunity to explore the city for (just under) a day – some 18 years after my first (and so far last) visit. Continue reading Grüezi in Züri
Hundertwasser in Vienna
About five months ago, I visited the Hundertwasser Art Center in Whangarei. Now I am back in Vienna, and the Museum Hundertwasser in the Kunst Haus Wien opened its doors again two weeks ago (after several months of renovation). So, what could be more fitting than paying a quick visit to this museum? Continue reading Hundertwasser in Vienna
