As last Thursday was a National holiday in Austria, I took the opportunity to spend an extended weekend in Salzkammergut – my first visit ever to this region! Unfortunately, the weather was not that good. So, I could not fully enjoy the gorgeous landscape in all its glory. Continue reading In the Clouds at Wolfgangsee

Fest der Freude
Today, the “Fest der Freude” (Celebration of Joy) was held on Heldenplatz, a central square in Vienna. A free concert of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 was the setting for the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and the liberation of Austria. Continue reading Fest der Freude

Annapurna Sanctuary
For two weeks, I was hiking in the Annapurna region (on a group tour). After that, I explored Kathmandu valley for just under a week (on my own).
Whirlwind Tour of Istanbul
On the way back home from Nepal, I made a stop-over in Istanbul for two nights. Of course, you cannot get a real feel for the city in such a short time, but it was just about enough for visiting the most important sights. Continue reading Whirlwind Tour of Istanbul

Taking the scenic route to hiking
Actually, I wanted to go to Nagarkot today. This village is located at approximately 2,000 metres above sea level, and you are supposed to have a great view of the Himalayas from there. What is more, there are some nice hikes in the surrounding hills. However, I did not manage to get there. Still, I managed to get to a hiking trail in the end – just not the one I originally planned to. Continue reading Taking the scenic route to hiking
Bhaktapur, the Better Version of Kathmandu
I spent the last five days of my stay in Nepal in Bhaktapur, one of the capitals of the former kingdoms in the Kathmandu valley – and the difference to Kathmandu could hardly be bigger! It is much quieter, much less chaotic, and has much less traffic – in short: a place to relax! Continue reading Bhaktapur, the Better Version of Kathmandu
Kathman-HOOONK!
On arrival in Kathmandu two weeks ago, I had a bit of a culture shock: The city is just so loud and chaotic! After a couple of days sightseeing, however, I sort of got used to the chaos. Still, it continues to be just that: chaos. Continue reading Kathman-HOOONK!
