As hiking around Los Gigantes is not that easy (as already explained in the last blog entry), I took the bus towards the South today. I decided to explore a very popular canyon: Barranco del Infierno. Continue reading Walking through hell

Hiking above Los Gigantes
As I am spending some time working in Los Gigantes, I also wanted to go hiking in the area. However, this turned out to be not that easy, as a lot of hiking trails are closed due to the danger of rockfalls – which is maybe not too surprising if you consider the steep Los Gigantes cliffs. Still, I finally managed to find a nice, albeit rather short hike from Tamaimo down to Los Gigantes. Continue reading Hiking above Los Gigantes
A (work) week in Los Gigantes
After my vaction, it is time for teleworking again. This time, I am based in Los Gigantes on the (South) West coast of Tenerife. Compared to my first work week in Gran Canaria, I may have explored the area a bit less, and concentrated more on swimming in the sea – but that is nothing to complain about, especially in mid-November. Continue reading A (work) week in Los Gigantes
Ending my vacation at a leisurely pace
My last vacation day was a rather relaxing one: I only had 24 kilometres to drive – and that is all I did. However, I took the opportunity to stop at the village of Masca on the way. Continue reading Ending my vacation at a leisurely pace
Staying in Los Carrizales valley
For the past two days, I have already been looking over Los Carrizales valley from the terrace of my apartment. So, it was only fitting to explore this valley on foot today. For that, I opted to hike the Abache trail to Roque de Abache. Continue reading Staying in Los Carrizales valley
At 1000 meters on the Teno plateau
Originally, I wanted to have a relaxing day today. However, just after 9 a.m., as the sun was cresting the hills (and peaking through the clouds), I got antsy again. So, I went on the hike that I had originally planned for the next day. In the end, I was very happy that I did, because it was a gorgeous hike – and who knows how the weather will be on the next day? Continue reading At 1000 meters on the Teno plateau
More risco, more fun!
After having enjoyed a relaxing day on the day before, it was time for another hike. Today, I explored yet another quite popular hiking destination in Tenerife: the Teno mountains. Continue reading More risco, more fun!
Side trip to the moon?
Today, I decided not to drive anywhere for hiking. Instead, I started my hike directly on my doorstep again: In just two hours, you can hike from Vilaflor (almost) to the moon – or more precisely, to a “lunar landscape”: the Paisaje Lunar. Continue reading Side trip to the moon?
1000 metres below Teide
Today, I drove up to the Teide plateau one more time. I did not fancy the ascent to Teide itself, though (both due to its high elevation, and the humungous elevation gain). Instead, I opted to climb up to the summit of Guajara (which is almost exactly 1000 metres lower than Teide). From there, one has also very good views of the surrounding landscape – including Teide itself, of course. Continue reading 1000 metres below Teide
Above the clouds
Today, I finally said farewell to the Anaga mountains– probably not a day too early: Since the afternoon on the day before, it had been raining on and off. For quite a while, it looked as if the rain would also follow me to my next destination. Luckily, however, I finally found myself above the clouds: at the foot of Teide volcano.
